Our Story
Three years ago, Micah saw Elly from across the room in a drawing class and thought "if I were to marry one girl in this room, it would be her." Little did he know that his fantastical musings would become a fantastical reality...
*Elly's Version*
We met in college-Micah was studying graphic design and I was studying fashion. We shared just one class-Basic Drawing. The only conversation I remember having with Micah during that year went something like this:
Micah: "Hey Elly...chocolate brown and tiffany blue-good color combination, right?
Elly: "Um...yeah Micah. I like those colors."
Later he informed me that we had actually talked about all sorts of things that year (I even talked him into getting his lip pierced!) but I just didn't remember any of that.
So who would have thought that 3 years later we would be planning our lives together.
The truth of the matter is, without Myspace, the Micah + Elly story wouldn't even exist. Micah found my e-mail address in the school phonebook and looked me up on myspace. We became "friends" and he would occasionally send me messages. I never replied. Why? I don't know. Two years later, I recieved a random message from Micah asking me to go get coffee with him. I agreed. Why? I don't know. We got coffee at a place called Fido in Nashville...we sat outside and I got stung by a sweat bee. Micah offered me a sweaty band-aid that had been in his pocket all day...and that was it! I knew he was the one.
Kidding! It took a few more dates than that, but just five months later we found ourselves revisiting the first 3 locations where we ever spent time together-Fido for coffee and bee stings, Ken's Sushi for dinner, and Cabana for drinks and dessert. It was our 5 month anniversary and I thought Micah was just being a good boyfriend by walking down memory lane with me. But after Cabana, instead of taking me home, Micah just kept driving....all the way back to the school where everything began- O'More College of Design. It was 10:00 at night and the lights in the drawing studio were on, which was very strange.
Micah helped me out of the car and walked me into the classroom.
"Do you remember what this is?" he asked
"...yes..." I giggled "The room where we first met." (I had been endlessly fighting the urge to laugh after I figured out what was going on).
Micah slowly and shakily got down on one knee and said,
"Elly, I love you with all my heart and I always always will. Will you be my wife?"
Of course I said yes, and started laughing, to which Micah replied,
"What, no tears?!"....he still teases me about not crying when he proposed.
But that's not the end. Later that evening he walked me by the jewelry store where my ring was sitting in the window with a "sold" sticker on it. We couldn't afford the real ring right away, so Micah bought a less epxepnsive Irish wedding band to hold it's place on my finger, and asked the jewelry store where he bought the real ring to place it in the window for me. After he showed me the beautiful vintage ring he had half purchased, he drove me to his office where my entire family, his entire family and all of our closest friends stood waiting to yell "CONGRATULATIONS!!!" That was when i started to cry. I couldn't believe how well planned out the entire evening was, or what a wonderful man I was going to spend the rest of my life with. We both completely believe that we were created to be together, and I can't imagine a more perfect man to be my husband. I cannot wait until August 23rd.
